Learn Indian classical music by ear
A guru plays a phrase and the shishya plays it back: Indian classical music has always been learnt this way. Listen to a phrase of a raga, play or sing it back, and get a score for the notes, their order and the timing.
- Any instrument, or your voice: bansuri, sitar, harmonium, violin or singing. Only the notes are marked, not the sound.
- Ragas in sargam, starting with Raga Yaman, with the notes written the way teachers write them.
- For practice between lessons, or to keep going after a trip or a workshop in India, without a teacher in the room.
8/10: well played
Notes & order: spot on · Timing & speed: almost
“It sounds like you may have played Pa instead of Ga for the third note.”
No account needed: 10 scored attempts a day, free. An account keeps your streak and opens more.
